This fashion program allows students to understand the fundamentals of the design process. From fashion illustration to creating your professional fashion portfolio to pattern cutting and digital design, students will learn how to create their first fashion collection upon graduation. RISD’s fashion design experience is also one of the oldest on the list, dating back to 1971. Nearly 550 students participate in the pre-collegiate summer programs each year, making it a great option for high school students who seek diversity over an intimate learning environment. Kids ages 4-14 are the focus of Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s summer camps based out of the Frick Environmental Center.

 

Students ages 7-17 can get a taste of collegiate life this summer at Carnegie Mellon University during these day camps and overnight camps, running from June 16 through Aug. 1. These camps mix STEM skill development and summer fun, allowing kids and teens from beginner to advanced to work alongside new friends and learn from expert tech mentors. Summer camps at Shady Side Academy, designed with working parents in mind, include before-care and free lunch. Kids from pre-K through high school will find a range of weekly camps on four campuses in Fox Chapel and Point Breeze. Sports-minded kids can focus skills on hockey, golf or tennis, while maker kids can choose hands-on STEAM camps. High school kids can take for-credit classes in art, math and science, as well as courses in essay writing and SAT/ACT prep.

Marangoni is one of the best fashion schools in the world, and when they opened their first school in the city where I was living, it was clear that I had to enroll. Registration remains open until camps reach capacity or May 9, 2025, at 5 PM, whichever comes first. We’ve reached out to AWAACC to confirm that they’ll be hosting a dance/music camp this summer. We haven’t heard back yet, but we’ll keep checking and post an update here. At the moment, their website does have details listed from last year’s camp. Some course unit details, and schedules are subject to change as we continually make improvements to align best industry and educational practice.

Choose Your Vibe And Have Fun

 

You’re probably feeling apprehensive since sewing is not one of your talents (and even IF it is, you may recognize that patience isn’t one of your fortes). Nevertheless, you have faith in your child’s abilities …if only your own lack of knowledge wasn’t holding them back. The reality is that sewing is too often a generationally skipped skill.

 

The nonprofit Mars Robotics, located in Mars, Pa.,  supports all kinds of STEAM education, not just robotics. In fact, some of last year’s camp themes strengthened the A (that’s “arts”) in STEAM. We’ve reached out for details on this summer’s offerings and will post them here. Enrollment is open for the Boys & Girls Clubs camps, which invite kids to a summer of bold imagination. Over a dynamic two-week programme, students will have the opportunity to learn Italian, explore fashion design processes, develop their creativity, and gain an overview of the Italian fashion system. In this module, students will explore the fundamentals of fashion design, including sketching, trend analysis, and creative concept development. All teen classes and camps are beginner friendly, we guide students when designing so that their chosen project matches their skill level. The residential option includes accommodations for 7 or 13 nights. Participants enrolled in the day option can choose to add an extra day on Saturday to visit Fondazione Prada and Armani Silos with the rest of the group. The kids work through an iterative process that relates to what designers do in the real world. Throughout each week of camp, students will work on creating their own personal design portfolio that they can continue to update even after camp.
